Chicago Truck Accident Site Traps Driver in Car
In West Chicago on Monday, rescuers had to extricate a driver from his car after the motorist was involved in an Illinois traffic accident with a box truck. The Chicago truck accident occurred on Route 59 at around 5:30am. West Chicago Fire workers had to pop out one of the car doors so that the driver could escape.
The airbags in both the car and truck had deployed. Both the car driver and the trucker were transported to a Winfield hospital.
In other Illinois truck accident news, semi-trailer truck driver Richard Eugene Howard received a citation after rear-ending a car on Interstate 57. Molly Baker, the 28-year-old car driver, was taken to a Benton hospital for her minor injuries.
Just a couple of weeks ago, tow truck driver Patrick Worley was charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of drugs, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, driving without insurance, speeding, and driving in reverse in unsafe conditions. Three people in the car that Worley struck were injured in the Chicago truck accident, and they were transported to hospitals in Evanston and Chicago.
On July 30, Spring Grove resident and semi-truck driver Jeffrey Repec pleaded guilty three counts of aggravated driving under the influence or drugs. Repec was driving the truck, which was carrying 80,000 pounds of grains, that crashed into the pickup truck carrying Tabitha Jacobs Carroll, 32. The pickup truck had stopped on Interstate 90 and was waiting to turn onto Route 47 when the deadly Kane County, Illinois semi-truck accident happened.
Repec’s semi-truck pushed the pickup truck into another semi-truck. Carroll died immediately and her 3-year-old son and husband sustained serious injuries. An investigation determined that Repec did not step on the brakes of his semi-truck. He also had smoked marijuana within 12 – 24 hour before the Illinois truck accident.
